Propolis is a resinous product collected by honeybees with complex chemical composition. Sodium carboxymethylcellulose polymer commonly used in wound care. The goal of the present work was to produce and characterize NaCMC membranes loaded extract Brazilian brown propolis (CMC-P). Flavonoids phenolic acids were identified extracts, where main substance kaempferide. extracted active against S. aureus. low swelling capacity high gel fraction CMC-P would be consequence (responsible for hydrophobic barrier) filling pores membrane. could anchoring chains (as observed FTIR) due interaction between components, which corroborated sample degrading less than CMC (>400ºC). There non-linear diffusion release kinetics most substances extract. presents potential as dressing material.
